Following a popular face to face meeting last year, Roland and Rob will discuss some of the tools available to you for assessing and tracking your herd’s genetics, as well as how to re-focus your breeding strategy. We’ll discuss how your farm can profit from breeding through improved dairy genetics and by maximising beef calf sales. Every farm enrolled will receive a free herd genetic report – this will break down your current and future genetics and compare them to other herds. All the data in the benchmarking will be anonymised, but we encourage open dialogue about your cows and how your breeding decisions have shaped your herd.
We hope for a lively discussion on breeding plans and the benefits they can bring, not least in reducing the numbers of dairy bull calves. This meeting is open to all, but is aimed primarily at dairy farmers breeding their own replacements (pure-bred, cross-bred or pedigree).
